Are you ready for your masterclass?

Intense, Challenging, Gratitude!

Hello Big Souls,

This is my third week here at Samma Karuna. Time goes by so quickly. I have been teaching tantra four days per week since I arrived: two days assisting and two days as the trainer. Our classes seem to be well-received because attendance has grown from about 12 my first class to over 40 people, even though the room barely holds 30. Sadly, we have to turn people away!

I credit my amazing mentor for our success. He is extremely detailed with his assessments of our facilitating skills. After each class, he goes over in detail 4 to 6 pages of feedback notes. I am told by the other facilitators that he is the best and most detailed that they have seen. I am grateful to hear that. This feedback is so helpful that I record it and listen to it afterward. It keeps me focused and present to the guidance and expectations, which is great practice for my neurodivergent brain.

Brady Brown, first person to pick me up from the boat was a young man who was assisting in Greece during my Tantra Teacher Training. He has become an esteemed Tantra teacher here at Samma Karuna. In six months, he has become a very qualified mentor.

We immediately hit it off in Greece because he reminded me of my son Brigham, who transitioned last July. He is handsome, like Brigham, he has long wavy hair, and very respectful in his guidance.. He is a natural at tantra, trained by the headmaster Ishi, and he is always the one assisting Ishi when he facilitates. He also looks after me like Brigham did.

I attend and record every tantra class held here by the masters because I learn so much, I’m incredibly grateful for the guidance as I navigate this learning curve.

This week, after my class, the students clapped and came up to hug me, thanking me. One guy even said, “You have really improved since your first class, you talk less, LOL.” Yet, I still received 5 pages of critique!

The immediate feedback from both students and my mentor is invaluable. It’s a great program, fostering improvement in a supportive environment. I cannot help but improve, no one is critical, and they are all helpful and supportive. I’m also learning to connect better with women, which was a missing for me.

I’ve been invited to teach a 3-day couples course while I’m here. I’m looking forward to that, but it means I will extend my stay. I was told by a young man that a relationship class is badly needed on the island.

Everyone rides motorbikes everywhere. My hotel is just up the road from Samma’s training center, which is great because I’m not ready to navigate a motorbike around town. I love the exercise I get from walking back and forth up the steep hill several times a day.

It’s fascinating to see so many health-conscious people from around the world here at the Samma Karuna Healing Center. Compared to the USA, everyone is very fit. They often joke with me about how terrible the food is in America, nicknamed SAD, though I can’t remember what it stands for. It’s sad to realize how obvious it is to other countries.

The local women wear beautiful long summer dresses, shorts, or swimwear everywhere. Despite the heat, the moist air makes it pleasant, and my hair has so much body.

I attended a class called Embodiment for Women at Jades Temple. It was quite nice, held in a small round house smaller than a yoga studio. I was again the eldest, surrounded by beautiful young women, most scarcely clad in preparation for a massage.

My hotel has an infinity pool, reputed to be the most beautiful on the island along with beautiful sunsets. As you can see. . .  where the pool ends the ocean begins. You would think this would cost plenty, yet it is less than any cheap motel in USA. So I honored myself and chose the best

I’ve hosted a few parties here with the gang. I’m always the eldest in all the activities here, with the average age being late 20s to early 30s. I don’t mind because I am here to learn not win a beauty contest.

People arrive here from all over the world, yet  very few from the USA. Everyone is required to speak basic English though if they attend the classes or training. Many extend their visas because it’s so chill and cheap to live here while learning a great deal about themselves. If you volunteer you can attend classes for free.

I will check in next week!

 Namaste,

Testimonials

Through Shauna’s work, I have been able to shift in a dramatic way, creating stronger relationships with self love and my divine creation. It is very hard at first being a skeptic, but curiosity won and for that am grateful of this discovery.
