The Markets of Koh Phangan A Culinary Adventure
This Sunday, Brady and I ventured on his bike into the heart of the island’s busy markets of Koh Phangan, what a treat it was! As we arrived, the market was already alive with crowds of people.
Picture a sprawling food fair where mom and pop vendors lined up in rows, each boasting their unique culinary flavors, sounds, and experiences. The air was filled with tantalizing aromas, making it impossible to know where to start.
First on my list was my all-time favorite dessert: mango sticky rice. I couldn’t resist and bought not one, but two containers. The sweet, creamy coconut sauce poured over mango paired with the perfectly cooked sticky rice is pure bliss when the mango is fresh and the sauce is thick. It was always mine and my son Brighams favorite dessert.
Next, I grabbed some coconut pancakes, they were little round circles ready to pop in your mouth. To balance the sweetness, I picked up some savory chicken masala, rich with spices and flavor.
But the adventure didn’t stop at the food stalls. After satisfying our taste buds, Brady and I wondered past racks of clothing because Brady wanted to buy some pants. I talked him into getting purple pants! As you can see, he looks great in them.
We strolled down a long dock that extended over the shimmering ocean. The dock was alive with music—a mesmerizing blend of drum beats and guitar strums. The musician’s soulful voice floated through the night air, adding a magical touch to the evening.
We wondered back and found some friends that were volunteers at Samma Karuna. Brady and I had gotten close to one gal who was leaving in a week, so we sat down and had a nice farewell visit under the moonlight.
To top off the evening, we ran into several familiar faces from my Tantra classes. It was a joy to mingle and share the experience with them, turning the night into an impromptu reunion of sorts.
Koh Phangan’s market is more than just a place to eat—it’s a sensory journey and a celebration of the island’s vibrant culture. Whether you’re a foodie, a music lover, or simply looking for a unique way to spend a Sunday evening, this market was something special to remember.
So, if you find yourself in Koh Phangan, don’t miss out on this delightful adventure!
I really enjoy sitting by the pool overlooking the seascape while drinking my mushroom coffee that I brought from home. It is unforgettable scenery here all day and night. It may be hot at times but it is never cold, even when it rains.
I had so much fun and growth this last week because two of the other fellow students wanted me to teach their class for them. One of them was a beautiful young Irish man in his thirties named Ian. He recently broke up with his girlfriend the day before so he was not in good shape. emotionally. The morning of his class he called me and said, “I cannot give the class my full presence, I am not feeling it! Can you take over my class?”
I had just under two hours notice to come up with a plan for the class. That includes finding a playlist and all. I knew it was not possible to get it planned in time but I so wanted to take the challenge so I said “YES of course!” I felt I could pull it off because he was willing to assist me while I led the class.
I was sitting in the awakening hall meditating while Ian went to let in the people waiting outside. As he was counting the amount of people to let in, he lost it and took off without telling me because he could not hold it together.in front of everyone. Suddenly the room began filling up, there was no Ian counting. I had more people in the room than we usually allow to come in because of the size of the room.
This just ramped up the challenge! It was the first time I have done a class without an assistant to help run the lights and music, give support, or step in if someone needed a partner, I barely pulled it off. Twice I stopped instructing them in the middle of guiding them into a flow. . . . .
“I just had a total brain-freeze and forgot what I had planned!”. I said jokingly, they all laughed.
It was a very vulnerable moment for me.
The second time I said nothing, I kept going, no one seemed to mind as much as I did. I had moments where I wanted to just stop and start over, then I recovered and kept going 🙁
Afterwards, I had many people come up and tell me they loved it! I am still getting comments about how much people enjoy my classes so it was not as devastating as it seemed at the time. Yet I believe because I set a strong intention is why they loved it in spite of all the commotion, so I was glad I accepted the challenge.
The next day I held a constellation workshop right by the beach. Ian decided to show up and get some work done on the issues around his relationship. His constellation helped him release the energy around it and understand the pattern that caused it in the first place. It was just what he needed to work through his pain and give him freedom to move on.j
It was really different and fun doing constellations on the yoga platform near the beach. They have the speakers, lights, and fans. It turned out well because I not only add tantra to family constellation therapy, but being out in the open, all the signs from Earth Mother that showed up were fascinating.
We had a white cat walk upon the platform and lay down behind a man who was experiencing stuck energy. (Cants are great to move dark energy.) A dog took a dump on the lawn nearby just as the seeker realized she was hanging onto her Dad’s sh** that was stopping her from living her life. A beautiful blue bird flew into our view as she let go of her judgments and felt the love flowing into her heart. She was an avid animal lover and picked up on all of these signs.
I recommend parental imprints for the first constellation because it shifts their DNA so they can live their life more fully.. That is the most important one to start with. You are able to release the patterns and judgments that you take on from your parents so you don’t bring them into your relationships.
See you next week!

We all have a dark side. Most of us go through life avoiding direct confrontation with that aspect of ourselves, which I call the shadow self. There’s a reason why. It carries a great deal of energy.

Doing healing work with Shauna in a constellation format is such a transformative experience. My constellation was focused on clearing my parental imprints. This modality of healing offered me the chance to see the subconscious energy I’ve been carrying from my family network. Not only could i see it and recognize it clearly, but it was tangible and i could interact with it. The session was deeply cathartic and very satisfying. We shed light on the family shadows and released them and cut the cords between me and them. The immediate relief I felt was profound. I was swimming in love and acceptance for me, my parents, and my ancestors. I was able to put even the heaviest of emotions and experiences into perspective and understand them. I just felt so grateful for the good and the bad. I am so looking forward to the long term benefits of what was accomplished. I can’t say enough about the quality of people Shauna attracts to assist in this work and the collective feeling they offer of being seen, celebrated, honored, and loved. It’s is something anyone would be lucky to experience. It is a truly unique and effective way to move forward and step into love and self acceptance. -Jared
