The Heart of Tantric Love: Emotion vs. Feeling
In Tantra — and in the raw truth of human connection — understanding the difference between emotion and feeling is essential. Most people use those words interchangeably, but they express two very different realities.
Feeling is what is happening right now.
It is conscious, present, alive.
It rises through the body with honesty:
- “I feel sad.”
- “I feel sparked.”
- “I feel tender.”
- “I feel anger.”
A feeling is clean. It has no history attached.
Emotion is the past attempting to express itself now.
It is unconscious, delayed, accumulated.
It carries the weight of history — childhood wounds, unexpressed truths, old betrayals, forgotten fears.
This is why emotion often comes out in ways that feel disproportionate, overwhelming, or irrational.
Feelings say:
- “I feel…”
- “I need…”
Emotions say:
- “You always…”
- “It’s your fault…”
One invites connection.
The other reinforces separation.
And because our society teaches us to “hold it together,” almost everyone learns to suppress their feelings early in childhood. These silenced truths settle into the tissues of the body — the jaw, the chest, the pelvis, the genitals — waiting for the right moment to erupt.
This is where Tantric awareness becomes life-changing.
When you recognize the difference, you suddenly understand what is happening inside you while it is happening.
That recognition is sovereignty.
That recognition is liberation.
Much love and Compassion

I’ve been wanting to tell you how blown away I am about the work we did. Wowzers. It was more than I expected in a very good way. It’s helping Nina out a bunch too. We started Crack the Code class and it’s awesome. It’s refreshing to understand each other without blaming for behaviors. We literally never learned the better way and we don’t know how to. Its reassuring for each of us to admit this, drop the pride, seek good guidance and adopt better ways of being. I feel like you led us to the trailhead I’ve been looking for for decades. Thank you. -Adin
